Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a profound pathway to create the life you truly want to live, the life you were born to live. It’s a timeless bridge that can initiate and support change and growth in any and every life dimension: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. TCM practitioners use a variety of therapies in an effort to promote health and treat disease. The most commonly used TCM treatments are Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture and include:


1. Massage Therapy Massage can be used as a way to relax the body and cause the release of muscle fibres, drain lymph glands, aid in detoxification, prevent injury, treat injuries, increase muscle function which will increase overall muscle function. Massage can aid many chronic illnesses: fibrologmia, arthritis, sports injuries, chronic headaches and the list is endless.

Chinese Massage Therapy

One form of TCM massage known as “Tui Na” is similar to acupressure and involves hands on rolling, rubbing, and kneading specifically targeted areas between the joints. These targeted areas are referred to as the “eight gates” in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Hot Stone Massage Therapy

Hot Stone Massage is the application of water-heated basalt stones to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The penetrating heat from the hot stones relaxes the muscles, which allows for deeper relaxation, when compared with regular massage therapy.

2. Aromatherapy (We use “Youngliving” everyday essential oils)

Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally-related conditions. When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system.

There’s nothing better than washing off a bad day with a relaxing steam shower filled with healing and stress-relieving aromatherapy oils. Essential oils can affect almost every organ system in the body. Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize. 4. Chinese Medicine Treatments

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a kind of stimulation generated by applying a heated cup to the skin to create a slight suction. When doing cupping, the negative pressure caused by the traction of push-pull cupping and squeezing stimulates a high degree of congestion and strengthens the exchange of air. As capillary permeability increases, the destruction of red blood cells leads to a large number of hemoglobin discharge, thus creating a positive stimulus. Cupping therapy can regulate the nervous system and blood system, and improve the immune capability.

Gua Sha Therapy

Gua Sha is an ancient therapy practiced in traditional Chinese medicine that is used to relieve the stagnation of blood that obstructs surface tissues and inhibits organ function. It is particularly effective in relieving body pain from headaches to shoulder, neck, back and joint pains as well as nerve pains, PMS, rheumatism and osteoporosis. Gua Sha is also helpful in the treatment of diseases that are brought about by the functional imbalance of an internal organ.
